HOME MERIDIAN INTERNATIONAL
Robert Buford is the Director of Logistics and Warehousing for Home Meridian International, a $400M division of Hooker Furniture Corp. He began his career in 2002 as an intern with Pulaski Furniture while attending Virginia Tech. In 2003, he graduated with honors in Business Information Technology, specializing in Operations Management, with a minor in E-Business Technology. At Pulaski Furniture, he drove logistics improvement projects and provided business intelligence to key executives.
Following the merger with Samuel Lawrence Furniture and the subsequent creation of Home Meridian International in 2006, Buford was promoted to Import Logistics Manager with direct responsibility for all inbound freight for the Pulaski division. In November 2010, he was tapped to lead all logistics functions for Home Meridian and relocated to their corporate office in High Point, N.C.
Today, Buford reports to the President of HMI and oversees a $25M+ freight budget with P&L accountability for ocean, air, domestic and small-parcel shipments. He is responsible for operating 1.2M sq. ft. of distribution facilities in both North Carolina and California and manages 50+ employees.
